This section will be split into multiple pages soon, as i anticipate it growing significantly.

Development Systems

Metrowerks CodeWarrior

If this isn't the industry standard for Mac OS development, it is at least the de facto standard for The MOST. Metrowerks offers a comprehensive development package which allows the developer to work in C, C++, and/or Pascal, as well as allowing the developer to target multiple platforms. The full package provides tutorials, a comprehensive C++ framework (Power Plant), lots of supporting utilities, and pretty much everything else one needs to do Mac OS development. Their packaging and pricing varies over time, and they offer an academic version of their product for the cash-starved student. See the Metrowerks web site for details on their product and availability.

MacPerl

One of our members, Paul Miller, is an enthusiastic user of MacPerl. He has provided us with a brief introduction, as well as pointers to more info about this powerful development environment.

Libraries

Tools Plus

The author of Tools Plus has provided us with a page to describe it, so we'll let them speak for themselves. An additional comment from The MOST: this product is well supported and the company that produces it stands behind it 100%. They provide frequent and timely updates and keep it current with the Mac OS as it has evolved.

Frameworks

Here we will list information regarding frameworks which are available for Mac OS development.

Power Plant

This C++ framework is provided as part of the Metrowerks CodeWarrior development environment. See above for details.
