MPPB-001: Programming Concepts

We have to start somewhere. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much of the work PP does for you in building the pieces of your application, but you have to understand the pieces themselves and how they interact to be able to tell PP what you want it to do.

At the lowest level, ALL computers and Operating Systems (OS) are the same. Some time ago i put together a "Fundamentals" course for people that wanted to take The MOST's Mac OS Core course but who weren't quite up to its prerequisites. The materials i produced for this have nothing to offer most of the participants of this course, but there are a few of you who might benefit from reading them and having an opportunity to have some of the points they cover clarified further for you.

So, this material will constitute Lesson 001. All participants are asked to ensure that they understand the fundamental programming principles covered there and encouraged to ask questions on it.

I know that the first section on binary isn't there. An understanding of binary and hex is crucial to understand some aspects of the Mac OS and this is one area that may be deficient for some of the participants. If interest is expressed i'll make an effort to flesh that section out this week. Also, if any of you know of a good URL for a tutotial on this (or any other information that relates to the materials covered in the "Fundamentals" course), you are encouraged to post them to the list.
