Finding great games for Mac OSX users can be a bit costly, especially if you have to buy a specific Mac capable game. But, here are a few older, but classic games, which can be downloaded for free, and can be used on any Mac computer.

First, is a game called Macabre mysteries: curse of the nightingale collector’s edition. The object is to find hidden objects in the game, to complete a level series. The purpose is to reach the nightingale theater. Another great game is ancient sudoku, which is a puzzle game. You must fill out the grid with numbers 1-9 without repeating in any row or column. For a challenge it is a great choice.

One of the most classic games, simply solitair (Mac solitaire) is the classic card game which is compatible with mac computers. Another game to check out is posh boutique 2. It is a time management game, where you have to clear levels to reach the next stage, in the shortest times. A fifth game to try is scrapbook paige, which is another hidden puzzle game. Using a magnifying tool, you have to search out and seek several different hidden objects thourought the levels.

What is Port Forwarding? Port Forwarding is a way that you tell the router how to send requests from the internet to the Mac with the server. In order to be successful in using port forwarding, it is very important to set up a static IP address. This is easy to do. Once you have your port forwarding set up, you can then use your router to forward ports to a specific IP address. This process will work when you initially set up your computer. However, when you decide to restart your computer, you might not get the same IP address. Once you get a different IP address, then the ports will no longer be forwarded to your computer’s IP address. This can seem frustrating. How can this situation be resolved? One way is to change the Mac addresss which stands for (Media Acess Control). There are several mechanisms that allows you to do a modification to the Mac address. Therefore, this method can eliminate the problem that might occur with the computer’s IP address once you restart it. This solution might not be a permanent one. However, it is a temporary solution that will resolve the computer’s IP address problem.

The Mac OSX has all kinds of little secrets that you can use to perform different functions. This post will be specific to games you can play with hidden terminal commands for your Mac OSX.

This may not be earth shattering for many that are savvy to using the terminal commands but can be fun for those that are not aware of the hidden functions.

Mac OSX has several games that are available using simple instructions that are available by typing in short requests into the terminal.

The terminal can be found in the utilities, but it’s easier just to do a spotlight search.

After the terminal comes up type emacs without any quotes (then hit return) after that, a bunch of writing comes up. Press the escape key at the top left of the keyboard.

Then simply type the letter x.

You can then choose from several different games. Type in any one of the following: snake, pong, tetris, or doctor, and press the return key and begin.

You use the arrow keys to control most of the games. The doctor game is funny because you type in something that is bothering you and it plays as if it is a psychologist.

Each time you want to start a new game you’ll need to open up a new window. Simple games for wasting a little time and having fun.

Mac users know what it means to be on the go and Mac does a great job of coming up with travel accessories that make using Apple products even easier. Here is a list of our favorite Mac travel products and accessories.
Chargers – MyCharger has seven adaptability plugs that allow you to charge all your Mac products in one place making it easier than ever before to stay powered up when you’re on the run.
Lost and Found – zReturn has come up with a nifty system for getting your lost Apple products back to you if you’re careless enough to let them get out of your sight.
Wireless – Staying connected has never been easier than now with the introduction of clear in so many new markets. Use your Mac to get online from wherever you are, from Houston to Bridgeport.
Bags- With so many Mac bags out there it’s hard to choose. Should you go with the eco-friendly version or the solar powered bag that charges your Mac while you travel? It’s a personal choice, really.

Whether you’re running OS X 10.5 or the much faster Snow leopard OS X 10.6, there’s quite a bit you can do to further speed up you OS X-based systems. This is specially for those people whose Mac Books and IMacs have become slower over time. Many of these tricks will garner a lot of speed out of older Macs, especially Panther and Leopard, although smaller speed benefits under Snow Leopard will also be noticed.

Disable dashboard widgets:
While widgets are fun, and a funky way to attain information at a button press, each dashboard widget you enable, consumes both processing power and valuable memory. To disable widgets and speed up OS X you need to: open up terminal.app located in Applications > Utilities > Terminal. alternatively you can “Terminals” in spot light to open it. Select, then copy/paste the following into the terminal and hit Enter: < defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled-boolean YES > (without cascades). Then type the following: <killall Dock>. Hit Enter again, and your Dashboard widgets are now disabled.

Here’s a simple one:
If you’re the type that has a mess of files on your desktop, simply organizing them and putting them into folders makes a huge difference. Since OS X has a visually rich interface and this implies to desktop icons as well, simply putting them into appropriate folders will do wonders, particularly for older Mac systems and those with less than 2GB of memory.

When it comes to simplicity in design Mac computers take the cake. Apple has made it a point to make their operating system safe, easy to use and very lightweight. Here are 5 reasons why people should use Mac OSX.

1. Mac OSX is a very light operating system. The amount of processing power that it takes for a Mac to do something such as play a song is significantly less than comparable operating system. This gives a number of advantages. First, any battery powered computer running OSX is going to have superior battery life. Second, the operating system is, in general, faster than comparable systems.

2. OSX isn’t susceptible to viruses. The simple fact is OSX isn’t as popular as other operating systems. As such the people who code viruses don’t write them for OSX. They try to reach out as broadly as possible.

3. OSX is given constant updates by Apple. When Apple makes a product they stand behind it.

4. OSX is simple to use. Browsing through the computer itself is very easy and intuitive.

5. OSX is the latest and greatest in a long line of Apple operating systems. If you’ve been a fan of a previous generation Apple operating system chances are you’ll like this one too!

As the title implies, there are ten ways of choosing that Mac OSX works quickly. The programming of the OSX operating system has options to work more rapidly. The programming can allow for a more rapid pace if the processing unit has a memory partition between information and active programs. Second, users who delete temporary backup files may have faster graphic presentations later. Third, adding chips to the empty slots on the inner motherboard cuts defragmentation time. Allowing horizontal windows reveals consecutive documents as facing pages in a virtual book. Adding virus protection programs, which scan the computer as the user works, makes evaluation of security rapid. If there are two ways of storing music files, choose the smaller file size, tip six. If the computer can store blank templates for web page text, please make sure that each template is filled out with your work before saving it, tip seven. Please choose a browser for the computer which blocks third party “cookie” identifiers, since that allows for more rapid browsing, hint eight. Please choose word processor programs which translate “rich text” files for email client mail senders; rapid searches matter, hint nine. Hint ten, please clean your computer monthly.

Though consumers have been well aware of Lion, the latest name in Mac OSX releases, since the preview was publicly unveiled in late October, the countdown has nearly reached its halfway point, with a summer 2011 release scheduled for markets in the Northern Hemisphere. Lion will mark the 8th major operating system release for Mac users, adding another big cat to the Apple animal kingdom. But will Lion truly do its name justice, marking enough improvement to declare itself the new “King of the Jungle?”A lot of buzz surrounding Lion centers around its parallels to Apple‘s mobile operating system. In short, Lion is expected to factor in a lot more iOS favorites, closer linking Apples wildly popular mobile devices with its home computing products. Users hope Lion will effectively merge the full functionality of your standard desktop or laptop computer with the simplicity and convenient user interface that has made Apple’s mobile device platform so revered. Towards this end:

AutoResume When a particular app is closed out, when reopened it will continue from its point of last use.

Hidden Scrollbars It may be subtle, but unless actively perusing content, scrollbars will not appear, only manifesting when in use.

Launchpad Launchpad will look similar to iOS from an aesthetic standpoint, offering icon grids arranged in pages, just as you would find on an iPhone or iPad. It will also maintain the ability to create folders for grouping apps and creating new pages for more depth in organization, as in iOS.

Mac App Store Similar to the App Store iOS users are already familiar with, this expanded version will still feature one-click instillations and updates while providing a means for interested users to browse apps for download based on relevance, price and popularity.

More AutoSave Documents will save during the editing process, mitigating the need to manually save after changes.

Certainly not the only changes in store for Lion, hopefully a full stride in right direction relative to Snow Leopard, here’s to looking forward to the full release.

With an update issued only a week ago, Apple has already released a new version of Mac OS X 10.6.5 server, in an effort to plug some holes in security flaws that were plaguing users of the earlier update. The former update, the 10H574, lacks a security patch built into latter version, the 10H575.Users who downloaded 10H574 may be subject to getting mail intended by others thanks to a problem with the Dovecot server. Obviously, this poses problems in the areas of information leakage, identity theft and personal privacy. The 10H575 should completely rectify the issue, only applicable to those who previously downloaded the 10H574 update within the past 2 weeks. It remains to be seen whether the new 10H574 will fix any other complaints regarding the original Mac OS X 10.6.5, though considering the pressing need to fix such a breach in personal security, Apple must be commended for taking such quick action to eradicate the issue. Other worries that have been circulating through the grapevine via forums and tech blogs may cause inconvenience for users but do not place any users at immediate risk. The 10H575 also entails smaller scale modifications that should further enhance user experience.Hopefully Apple will handle all concerns over time making for an even smoother, fully functional operating system, before the new release of what should be a much improved Mac OS C 10.7.

With the 2010 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) choosing to focus more on the company’s mobile developments and capabilities as opposed to entirely new operating systems, many tech enthusiasts across the globe are hoping for more innovative approach to the 2011 event. After all, the ’11 WWDC would follow the appropriately laid out precedent for new operating systems, with Panther, Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard all approximately 2 years apart in terms of release.Speculation is already underway as to what Mac OS X 10.7 may hold, not to mention what corresponding big cat will be made its unofficial namesake. Considering that the switch from Leopard to Snow Leopard was an admittedly bland one (subtly implied by their stay within the Leopard subspecies), if internet rumors are to be believed, upcoming changes are expected to be substantially different than anything Mac users, better yet fully literate computer enthusiasts have ever seen before. According to Apple’s official recruitment page, this following job listing has only fueled the excitement, reading “Are you looking to help create something totally new? Something that has never been done before and will truly amaze everyone? Are you excited by the prospect that what you helped create would be used every day by millions of Apple customers? Then come and work on with the Mac OS X software engineering team to help build a new and revolutionary feature for Mac OS X. We are looking for a senior software engineer to help us create a revolutionary new feature in the very foundations of Mac OS X. We have something truly revolutionary and really exciting in progress and it is going to require your most creative and focused efforts ever.”The ad goes on to list the prerequisites to apply, which are less important for this discussion. But reading the first two sentences, there is a clear indication that these will not be minor tweaks that “refined” the system as Apple promised with Snow Leopard, rather a major overhaul to Mac OS X as we know it. Unless, there is another way to read “revolutionary new feature in the very foundations.” There is no clear cut plan publicly available, thus there is no way to know exactly what to brace for, but early returns indicate this has done little to temper the expectations for the prospect of Mac OS X 10.7 the choice here would be Lion, as such “revolutionary” change would require a new king atop the jungle.
